Coon's Bluff and Granite Reef Dam

This was a combined Birders' Anonymous and the Sonoran Audubon Society field trip Ten of us, led by Dick Fogle had a great outing. Other attendees included George & Delores Drew, Jean Irving, Marilyn Lauterbach, Carol Maroney, Patricia Mudge, George Wall, Jerry Weaver and Daniela Yellan.

We saw or heard 43 species: Pied-billed Grebe, American Wigeon, Mallard, Common Merganser, Great Blue Heron, Turkey Vulture, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Cooper's Hawk, Gambel's Quail (heard), American Coot, Greater Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpiper, Black-necked Stilt, Killdeer, Mourning Dove, Inca Dove, Black-chinned Hummingbird, Gila Woodpecker, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Black Phoebe, Vermilion Flycatcher, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Common Raven, Phainopepla, European Starling, Cactus Wren, Bewick's Wren, Verdin, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, House Sparrow, House Finch, Orange-crowned Warbler, White-crowned Sparrow, Abert's Towhee, Northern Cardinal, Bullock's Oriole, Red-winged Blackbird, Great-tailed Grackle, and Brown-headed Cowbird.
